Inside a Volkswagen

You are the head of interior design at Volkswagen in 2050… you are on your way to the design studio and in communication with your various design teams worldwide… you think about the amazing heritage of quality, precision and ergonomics that a Volkswagen interior has, and you are pushing on into the future.

As you drive on the autobahn in Germany the speed limit is unlimited for vehicles of your type. Your mind is racing as fast as your car, and you decide to let the car take over the driving whilst you contact your world studios to share a new design briefing…

Not only does the sophisticated interior enable you to drive when you want, but your interface enables you to “see” where your designers are and “bridges” a virtual team conference together.

Holographic images are projected within the interior, lighting adjusts for the conference call, windows automatically darken….

The driver’s seat becomes a communications “nerve centre”… you are in the control centre… with the latest technologies and advances in electronic communications you are creating the dream….

But what does this dream look like?

Your brief is to visualize this future Volkswagen interior. The interior that brings a gasp from those who see it… a “wow”, an unexpected answer, a RE-DEFINITION…


Criteria:

To be successful the design will create a “wow” when viewed from outside the car with the doors open

Paying particular attention to a premium-looking interior that answers the brief will be essential.

Ideas are requested for how the newest electronics/communications/devices/gadgets (of 2050 of course) will be integrated into the vehicle (as well as ideas of what the latest electronics of 2050 will be!).

Although the focus for this brief is the interior, any ideas showing the simple, pure, streamlined exterior are also welcome.
