Welcome to the 2015 competition!
Now in its 6th year, this competition has become one of the most important in China, and very significant in identifying the best of the next generation of automotive designers.
Finalists and winners not only receive global publicity via Car Design News, but are also highly likely to get hired! Which is why this year leading OEMs, both global and domestic, are again providing the briefs against which entries are submitted. The briefs reflect the real challenges faced in developing vehicles for the needs of future consumers from all market sectors, right across the country.
In 2014 Guo Jiayi, who was studying at CAFA, the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, created a sensation by becoming the first student to win the overall Design of the Year for a second successive year.
This year will see a new talent taking the ultimate crown. He or she will be joined by 9 winners of individual Awards categories, announced at a glittering Awards ceremony in Shanghai at the time of the motor show in April 2015. The work of those students will have been examined, challenged argued over and finally chosen by our panel of international judges.
Now it’s time for you to join the 2015 challenge. On this site you’ll find the briefs, details on how to enter, and the list of Awards categories.
And remember, those design directors may be steering the current development of automotive design in China...but they’re also looking for the talent which will steer it in future!
Recognising that even the best most promising talent needs great teaching, Car Design Awards China will again make a special Award to recognise the design school which has had most success in nurturing student development, as expressed by the results of this competition.
All 2015's shortlisted entries will feature the school of the student, while the finalists will see also give publicity to their individual teachers. See the league table on this site which tracks the most successful schools over the previous five years of these annual Awards.
